Hi, I’m Mehtab Ahmed, and I’ve spent the last 15 years designing, programming, and troubleshooting industrial automation and electrical control systems across manufacturing plants, power facilities, and industrial sites.

My Background

I’m electrical engineer specializing in Industrial Automation and Control systems with more than 15 years of hands-on industry experience. Throughout my career, I’ve worked on PLC programming, SCADA and DCS systems troubleshooting, motor control, power distribution, and industrial electrical design for manufacturing plants, power facilities, and also process industries. My focus has always been on practical engineering solutions that improve reliability, safety, and plant performance.

B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering, University of Engineering and Technology (UET), in 2010
More than 15 years of practical experience in PLC, SCADA, DCS, and industrial electrical systems
Practical experience with Siemens, Allen-Bradley (Rockwell Automation), and Schneider Electric platforms
Experience applying in IEC/NEC requirements and industrial electrical design practices

Professional Experience

I’ve programmed PLC systems using ladder logic, structured text, and also function block programming across multiple automation platforms. I’ve developed and supported SCADA, and HMI applications using FactoryTalk View, WinCC, Wonderware, and Ignition, while also working with DCS platforms including Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell, and Yokogawa.

My experience also includes designing motor control centers, integrating variable frequency drives (VFDs), developing power distribution systems, and supporting industrial facilities in the manufacturing, oil and gas, utility, and chemical processing sectors.


Why I Created Industrial Control Academy

After 15 years in the field, I noticed a huge gap between what’s taught in classrooms and what actually happens on the plant floor at 2 AM when a system goes down.

I’ve spent many hours Like

– Debugging PLC code that “worked in simulation” but failed in production

– Explaining to young engineers why their textbook solution won’t work with our 20-year-old equipment

– Finding practical solutions that work in real facilities, not just on paper

Industrial Control Academy started as my personal notebook – a place where I documented real solutions to real problems. The kind of problems that don’t show up in manufacturer manuals:

I realized other engineers and technicians were facing the same frustrations. So I decided to share what I’ve learned, the hard way over 15 years of practical work.
